On Saturday, Mari Ann ran in the ColorBlaze 5K at Southwind Park. I tried to sign up a couple days before the race but they were sold out. That worked out for the better for this project as I do not think I could have ran and taken photos at the same time. I arrived after Mari Ann’s wave had already started so I began snapping photos at the starting line. I was shocked at how many people were participating in the event. There had to be thousands of people and they were mostly covered in colored cornstarch. At the starting line there was a color blaster guy releasing a cloud of green powder with a large air compressor.
I was pleasantly surprised that the majority of the runners seemed to be young women in tank tops, although that did make me feel like a creepy perve with the camera set to burst mode. To protect the equipment I used a freezer bag and stuck the lens through a hole I cut out of the end. This kept the majority of the fine particles out.
