Me – Photo 52 Project [Week 24]

I did it to my brother, girlfriend, and father. It seems only fair that I treat myself to the same fate. I don’t care for pictures of me and I would rather not take them, but what photo project would be complete without a self-portrait? I feel like I went bolder with this than I would normally be comfortable with.

I lit up my face and exposed every imperfection, freckle, mole, and patch of vitiligo. I was just sitting at my computer and decided to do it. I set the remote flash on the desk and fired away, holding the camera and attempting to look casual. Every other picture I took was awkward. I mean ever. In my whole life.

Color – Photo 52 Project [Week 23]

On Saturday, Mari Ann ran in the ColorBlaze 5K at Southwind Park. I tried to sign up a couple days before the race but they were sold out. That worked out for the better for this project as I do not think I could have ran and taken photos at the same time. I arrived after Mari Ann’s wave had already started so I began snapping photos at the starting line. I was shocked at how many people were participating in the event. There had to be thousands of people and they were mostly covered in colored cornstarch. At the starting line there was a color blaster guy releasing a cloud of green powder with a large air compressor.

I was pleasantly surprised that the majority of the runners seemed to be young women in tank tops, although that did make me feel like a creepy perve with the camera set to burst mode. To protect the equipment I used a freezer bag and stuck the lens through a hole I cut out of the end. This kept the majority of the fine particles out.

Jesse – Photo 52 Project [Week 22]

MariAnn was nice enough to bring in the camera for me to attempt to get some head-shots of our employees. While I was setting up, Jesse wandered into the conference room and I took a few “lighting shots.” I told him he was just there to be a human light meter and not to pose. I think this relaxed him as most of the time he can be wound a little tight in front of a camera.

I got a fun one too and maybe I will publish it in my year end photo 52 runner up gallery. Oops, I was keeping that a secret. Nevermind all that… Anyway, what’s in the news? That Obama sure is a character, huh? What with the things he says and does and things?
